Introduction
SSC-CHSL (Staff Selection Commission-Combined Higher Secondary Level) is an exam conducted by SSC every year. This is a national level exam conducted to recruit efficient/eligible candidate for various posts like Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretarial Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant (PA), Sorting Assistant (SA) and Data Entry Operator (DEO) in various ministries/department/offices of the Government of India.

Eligibility
a) Nationality/Citizenship
The candidate must be
•Citizen of India OR
•Subject of Nepal or Bhutan OR
•Tibetan refugee who came to India before Jan 01, 1962 with intention to live in India permanently. OR
•The Indian origin (person) who has migrated from Burma, Srilanka, Pakistan, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Vietnam with purpose of permanently settling in India.
•A candidate age must be in between 18 and 27 years as on January 1, 2021
•A candidate must pass Class 12 or equivalent from a recognized board or university
•Student appearing for his/her Class 12 exams are also eligible to apply

Exam
SSC-CHSL examination consists of Computer Based Examination (Tier I), Descriptive Paper (Tier II) and Typing Test/Skill Test (Tier III)
Tier I – Computer Based Examination
This Exam is conducted on Online Mode.
Highlights
•This is an Objective Type with Multiple Choice question.
•The duration of this exam is 60 minutes. However, Time is 80 minutes for the candidate with disability like Cerebral Palsy and OH with deformity in writing hands
•The Question is given both in English and Hindi for Part II, III & IV.
•There will be negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer
The candidate must prepare his subjects before going for the exam.
•Part I—English Language – 25 Question and 50 Marks
•Part II—General Intelligence–25 Question and 50 Marks
•Part III—Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic) — 25 Question and 50 Marks
•Part IV—General Awareness– 25 Question and 50 Marks
Total Question: 100 and Total Marks—200
Syllabus
General Intelligence
Logical Reasoning, Alphanumeric Series, Ranking/Direction/Alphabet Test, Data Sufficiency, Seating Arrangement, Puzzle, Tabulation, Syllogism, Space Orientation, Semantic, Figural series, Coding/Decoding.
Quantitative Aptitude
Computation of (Whole number, Decimal and Fractions), Relationship between numbers, Profit-Loss, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Surds, Indices, Work & Time, Time & Distance, Mensuration-(Cylinder, Cone, Sphere), Data Interpretation, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Number Systems, Sequences & Series, Mixture & Allegation, Permutation, Combination & Probability.
English Language
Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Para Jumbles, Synonyms/Antonyms/Homonyms, Fill in the Blanks, Multiple Meanings/Error Spotting, Paragraph Completion, One word Substitution, Active/Passive voice.
General Awareness
History, Culture, Geography, Economic, General Policy, Scientific Research
Tier II—Descriptive Paper
The candidate who qualifies on Tier I exam is called for Tier II exam. This Examination is conducted for “Offline” Mode (also called Pen and Paper mode).
Highlights
•This exam mainly focusses on English/Hindi Writing Skills of the candidate.
•The question asked on this exam is basically of Tenth (X) standard.
•The written test consists of an Essay writing of 200-250 words and Application/Letter writing of 150-200 words.
•The time given for the test is 60 minutes, however 80 minutes is given to the disabled candidate (visually handicapped or cerebral palsy).
•Total number is 100 and the minimum marks candidate should secure is 33%
Tier III—Typing Test/Skill Test
The candidate must qualify this skill tests to get selected to certain government posts. The final merit list is prepared after this skill test.
This Examination is taken for post like Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant, Lower Division Clerk and Court Clerk
This Test includes
Typing Test
•English: It is a 15 minute duration in which candidate should have the speed to type 35 words/minute.
•Hindi: It is a 15-minute duration in which candidate should have the speed to type 30 words/minute
Note:
For Visually Handicapped candidate (40% disabled) 30 minutes is given for this test
Preparation Tip
•Candidate must focus on current affairs.
•For English section, a candidate must go through Synonyms, Antonyms, One word Substitution, Idioms, Phrases etc.
•For General Intelligence Section, A candidate should practice Venn Diagram, Series, Coding-Decoding, Analogy, Symbols.
•Candidate should focus on their speed and learn various techniques to solve problem quickly.
•Last 5-10 years Previous Question paper is always helpful to understand the pattern.
•Regular Practice is always required.
