Multitasking Staff Examination
Introduction
As the name Suggest, Staff Selection Commission-Multitasking Staff Examination (shortly called SSC-MTS) is conducted by SSC. This is a national level exam. The purpose of this exam is to recruit efficient candidates for the position of General Central Service Group-C non-gazetted, non-ministerial posts in various ministries, departments and offices of Government of India. This examination is conducted to hire/recruit candidates for various posts like Peon, Hostel Attendant, Female-Orderly, Chowkidar, Safaiwala, Mali etc. These exams happen once in a year. Candidate recruited under this category falls in the Pay Range (Band)-1 (Rs, 5000-20000 (approx.)) + Grade Pay Rs.1800

Eligibility
a) Nationality/Citizenship
The candidate must be
•Citizen of India OR
•Subject of Nepal or Bhutan OR
•Tibetan refugee who came to India before Jan 01, 1962 with intention to live in India permanently. OR
•The Indian origin (person) who has migrated from Burma, Srilanka, Pakistan, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Vietnam with purpose of permanently settling in India
b) The Age of the candidate must be in between 18 and 27 years.
c) Minimum Education required to appear in this exam that a candidate should pass Class X from a recognized board (CBSE/State Board/ICSE)

Exams
The SSC-MTS exams is conducted in three Stages- Paper I, Paper II & Document Verification
Paper I
Paper I is an objective type paper and is conducted as Online Mode.
Highlights
•Subjects asked in this exam will be General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 Question, 25 Marks), Numerical Aptitude (25 Question, 25 Marks), General English (50 Question, 50 Marks) and General Awareness (50 Question, 50 Marks).
•Total Duration is 2 hours for General candidates and 2hours 40 minutes for Handicapped Student who is Visually Handicapped/Cerebral Palsy candidates.
• 0.25 marks is deducted for each wrong answer.
Syllabus—Paper I
General Intelligence & Reasoning: – Classification, Analogy, Coding-Decoding, Matrix, Venn Diagram, Blood Relation, Missing numbers, Puzzles, Direction, Verbal/Non-verbal Reasoning.
Numerical Aptitude: — Simplification, Interest, Average, Ratio-Proportion, Problem on Ages, Speed Distance & Time, Percentage, Profit-Loss, Number System, Number Series, Mensuration, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry.
General English: Reading Comprehension, Fill in the Blanks, Spellings, Phrases, Idioms, Synonyms, antonyms, One Word Substitution, Sentence Correction, Error Rectification/Spotting.
General Awareness: — GK, Science, Current Affairs.
Paper II
Candidate who qualifies in Paper I will appear in Paper II exams. This is a descriptive round generally called Pen-Paper mode.
Highlights
•Here, Candidate have to write Short Essay/Letter in English or any Language included in the 8th Schedule of the constitution.
•Maximum Marks in this exam is 50.
•Total time given for the General candidate is 30 minutes. However, 45 minutes is given for Handicapped Student who is Visually Handicapped/Cerebral Palsy candidates.
Note
Candidate should have to appear both in Paper I and Paper II. Candidate not appearing in either of the Paper will be disqualified for the exam
Selection Process
•Once candidate Qualify for Paper I, he is called for Paper II exam.
•The cut-off or Qualifying marks in Paper-I & II may be different in each State/UT.
•The SC, ST, OBC & PH candidates who are selected on their own merit, will not be adjusted against the reserved share of vacancies. Such candidates will be accommodated against the General/Unreserved vacancies in the Overall Merit List.
•Candidate who is in Physically Handicapped Category (Cerebral Palsy/Visually Handicapped/OH) and Who Qualifies on the basis of relaxed standard is to be counted against reserved vacancies and not against general vacancies.
•In case of Ex-Serviceman, deduction of the military service is contributed from the age of Ex-Serviceman who is permissible against the reserved or unreserved posts and such exemption cannot be termed as relaxed standards in regards of age.
Resolution of Tie Cases
Suppose if two candidates get same marks in an examination, In this case It will be solved by the following process.
•It will refer to the marks in Part III of the objective type paper.
•It will refer to the marks in Part-II of the objective type paper.
•The candidate who is elder among the two will get preference.
•It will refer to the alphabetical order of the names taking first name into thought process or consideration.
Preparation Tip
•Candidate must focus on current affairs.
•Candidate should study thoroughly on Paper I as it is gateway to the next round. There is a Gap of few months between Paper I and Paper II . You can only come to next round when you qualify the first Paper.
•Candidate should focus on their speed and learn various techniques to solve problem quickly.
•Last 5-10 years Previous Question paper is always helpful to understand the pattern.
•Regular Practice is always required.
